When Was the Last Time You Talked with Your Boss? Recently, I heard about an employee whose boss gave her an unfavorable evaluation in writing but never discussed it with her. She was understandably angry about the boss' lack of respect. Do you know what your supervisor thinks of your performance? How typical is it that employees only hear about performance problems when they appear in an evaluation? What is your experience? Larry Wenger Add Comment Post Title. 07/11/2011

Balancing Work and Family Life A number of years ago a colleague of mine told me about a phone call which came in about 10:00 at night. The call was taken by her 12 year old daughter who angrily announced, "Mom...its the group home..." Do you find your work impinging on your family life and how do you cope with it? Welcome to our new website and this blog. My name is Larry and I am the founder of Workforce Performance Group. We train front line managers and supervisors for human service organizations and small businesses. It's summer time and for some of us that means vacations. What are you planning to do for a vacation and how hard will it be for you to get time off? For some, especially those who work in 24-hour care programs it may be hard to get off since there may not be staff to fill in for you. For others who are wearing many different hats, going away means working doubly hard before you leave and again when you return and you wonder if it's worth it. What's your experience?
