When Was the Last Time You Talked with Your Boss?
Recently, I heard about an employee whose boss gave her an unfavorable evaluation in writing but never discussed it with her.  She was understandably angry about the boss' lack of respect.  Do you know what your supervisor thinks of your performance?  How typical is it that employees only hear about performance problems when they appear in an evaluation?  What is your experience?
